first step?

During your appointment, he will discuss your health history, both dental and overall, talking to you about your oral hygiene and past surgeries. He will then examine your teeth and specifically your target tooth/teeth, deciding if this was the best procedure for you. If he deems you to be an ideal candidate for a dental implant, he will discuss risks and benefits of the procedure and also order X-rays to be performed to assess the health of your teeth, gums and jawbone, since all will be manipulated during the installation of dental implants.
Once you and your dentist agree to move forward, they will create a treatment plan for you which you can then take to a patient coordinator to get scheduled and evaluated for pricing and payment options. It is also a good time to ask for pre-treatment instructions that you will need to closely follow for the most optimum procedure and recovery.
What to Expect From a Dental Implant Treatment
On the day of the beginning of your Dental Implant in Miami, our staff will welcome you and get you settled. They will go over any treatment plan thus far in case of outlying questions and/or concerns. Once you are satisfied, you will be placed under local anesthesia.
A lip retractor will be placed to expose your bite. Your dentists will then make an incision in the target area to expose the gum and bone. Titanium vs Zirconia Abutments: Zirconia is lighter and more matchable to our natural teeth whereas Titanium is darker.
Immediate vs Conventional Implants: Immediate implant loading is a loading mechanism within forty eight hours of extraction whereas in conventional implants, patients have to wait three to six months after extraction and implant post installation for osseointegration.
Full Arch Rehabilitation: Some patients want to replace one arch or a full dentition. This is done via Snap-In Dentures or All-On-4 prosthetics.
Dental Implants Recovery
You will be monitored after your surgery until sedation wears off. For safety, we recommend having a friend or family member drive you home. Before you leave, your dentist will place a gauze pack over your implant site so that in case of any bleeding, it captures the blood as you bite down. This is also good practice to prevent the formation of any blood clots.
After numbness wears off, you might need prescription or pain medication for a few days to stay on top of the discomfort. We also recommend cold compresses.
Most patients take a few days off from work and keep activities to a minimum. You can resume exercises and your normal routine on day three onwards.
Within a week, you will return to the office to monitor recovery as well as take out any sutures.
Usually patients are back to normal within two weeks of the implant placement.
