Crowns, onlays & veneers

Your temporary, final restoration, and the appointments in between.

Food & drink

With a temporary

  • Choose foods that do not pull or press hard on it.
  • Avoid caramel, taffy, chewing gum, and hard foods on that side.
  • Wait for numbness to wear off before eating.

After the final restoration

Follow the eating instructions given at the appointment. If the tooth is sensitive, avoid very hot or cold foods and hard chewing on that side while you arrange advice.

Protect it over time

Do not chew ice or use your teeth as tools. Tell us if you grind or clench; a guard may be recommended.

Medical emergency? Call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading swelling, fainting, or other life-threatening symptoms. Do not wait for an office reply. Emergency guidance

Your doctor’s instructions take priority. If you had more than one procedure, ask your team which instructions to follow. Contact your office.
