Aftercare instructions
Follow these instructions alongside the personal plan you received at your appointment.
The first day
- Wait for numbness to wear off before eating.
- Resume brushing and flossing gently the same day.
- Use only the rinse your hygienist or doctor instructed.
If you also had oral surgery
The surgical instructions take priority, including the no-rinse rule. Ask your team how to combine the instructions if both treatments were done.
Keep your re-evaluation
Gum disease needs continuing care. Attend the follow-up so we can measure your response and plan maintenance.
Medical emergency? Call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading swelling, fainting, or other life-threatening symptoms. Do not wait for an office reply. Emergency guidance
Your doctor’s instructions take priority. If you had more than one procedure, ask your team which instructions to follow. Contact your office.
