Recovery & concerns
Pay attention to how symptoms change. If you are unsure whether something is expected, contact your team.
What you may notice
- Pressure or tightness can occur for a day or two with a new aligner.
- A retainer should fit without being forced.
Contact your office if…
- A tray or retainer cracks, is lost, or stops fitting.
- Pain is sharp, severe, or persists instead of easing.
- An edge rubs or injures your gum, cheek, or tongue.
If a tray does not fit
Do not skip ahead to another tray or force a retainer into place. Contact your team for the correct next step.
Maintaining the result
Teeth can move again if a retainer is not worn as prescribed. Tell us early if wear is difficult so we can help.
Medical emergency? Call 911 for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading swelling, fainting, or other life-threatening symptoms. Do not wait for an office reply. Emergency guidance
Your doctor’s instructions take priority. If you had more than one procedure, ask your team which instructions to follow. Contact your office.
